The entire 6th grade visited colleges throughout New York City. They received college tours and explored many campuses, including: Columbia University, Brooklyn College, Barnard College, The Juilliard School, NYU, and more!!
As part of Unity Week, the entire school participated in workshops around bullying and other issues involving teenagers --and our world. Friday students heard from presenters on the topic of homophobia. Thank you to the staff, students, and volunteers who helped make this week possible for all of our young women! Our poets are preparing for the Rites of Passage event in the fall. Students received a poetry journal with lots of room to write many poems! (more photos in our photo album)
Students attended a Verizon sponsored field trip to the Liberty Science Museum. They completed a scavenger hunt and also watched a science documentary on turbine powered energy resources in our very own east river. They met and questioned the engineers who pulled this feat off after the film viewing. Verizon has challenged our girls to write an essay on their favorite female scientists or engineers.
